The red path winds its way up to the top of the pit top, it is made of crushed bricks and tiles which is rather in keeping with the fact that the whole hill is made of the slag from the sadly now redundant Clipstone Colliery.
The slopes are dotted with white flowers, they are a delightful contrast to the dark strips of trees and the red earth underlying the meadow. Scattered across the hillside they are like icing sugar sprinkled across the surface.
