May 2012 YELLOW Fields.

Oil Seed Rape fills the air with a strong musky scent but the overriding characteristic for me is the nature of the yellow. It is a sharp acid colour that swathes the countryside in may, beginning as a gentle soft green that pales as flowers bloom reaching an intense hue for just a short time before it fades.

Grasses

The light this evening was beautiful, although I was walking
in the woods it was the field alongside the beech trees that
caught my attention, layers of grasses and different shades
of green. The more I concentrated on them, the more layers
appeared, grass heads of different sizes bobbing in the breeze.

Wednesday Walk

Today I really had that feeling that the sky
was moving over my head, it was drifting
a little like the grasses across the field.

Drifts of light coloured grasses are starting to appear in the fields

EDGES are one of my current obsessions,
where corn meets paths or red earth.

Windy Day

The wind has turned the corn field into a turbulent expanse that moves
and shimmers like the sea. It to has waves that roll across the surface,
but with these ones I hear the sound first, a gentle whoosh, and a few
seconds later the whole field sways in great swathes like a mexican wave.

Clouds of Cow Parsley dot the edges of the fields,
they change from day to day as the flowers blossom.
